In de periode dat toenmalig koningin Beatrix op Paleis Huis ten Bosch woonde, was de zonnewijzer gewoonweg wit. Hoe het origineel geschilderd was, is onbekend. Maar de zonnewijzer van het paleis lijkt nu de Argentijnse vlag te weerspiegelen. Het lichte blauw en wit, gecombineerd met de met bladgoud bewerkte Meizon, maken de verwijzing naar de vlag van Máxima’s geboorteland duidelijk.
Symbolisch staat Máxima boven de familie, want het alliantiewapen van Frederik Hendrik en Amalia van Solms staat onder de zonnewijzer. Alleen de kroon – het koningschap – torent hoog boven alles uit.

Touch of Argentina: the ancient sundial on the palace has been changed during recent renovations when King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima moved to Huis ten Bosch (House in the Forest) Palace in The Hague. Where it always had been white with a golden sun during the days former Queen Beatrix lived here, the inner circle had been colored in the light blue shades of the Argentinian flag. Completed with the white and the golden Sun of May it resembles the flag of the country the Dutch Queen was born as Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti. The golden crown, as a symbol of the monarchy, is above this piece of Argentina, while the coat of arms of Prince Frederick Henry of Orange and Amalia of Solms are below it.
